Metro Birmingham, Ala. - Murder Arrests: An anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers led to the arrests of two men in connection with a homicide from November, 17, 2009, police said Tuesday.

The suspects, Cordaryl Craig, 22, and Antonio Clark, 27, are charged with capital murder during a robbery. Craig was in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond, and Clark was being held Tuesday afternoon on $250,000 bond.

Craig and Clark were arrested in connection with the shooting death of Alvoida Skeen outside a duplex along the 1300-block of 46th Place North in Birmingham.

Sergeant James Lewis said an anonymous tipster called Crime Stoppers and provided information that put detectives on the right path toward finding the suspects.

"If this person had not come forward, this case would still be open," Lewis said. "So without this information, this anonymous tip, we wouldn't have solved this case."

Since tipsters do not have to provide their names, Lewis only knows the caller by a private code number.

"If this person was walking down the street right now, I would not know who this person is," Lewis said.

The tipster, however, can contact Crime Stoppers and provide the private code number to claim a cash reward. The reward is expected to be available after a meeting of the Crime Stoppers board of directors next week.
